The Girl From Ipanema (Bossasynth Mix) – Fèy Mebratu & Alex Kehayas

Last week, I asked some friends to send me some song requests. This was the first, from my dear friend of ten years, Alex K. He’s an extraordinarily dedicated and passionate musician and person. I am grateful for every experience and teaching moments we share with each other.

I used a Lucero student Classical Guitar, and he plays an Upright Bass. We both used Logic Pro, and MacBooks. To record, we used external pickups, and a Shure Microphone. My partner’s iPad, and Alex’s iPhone were used for the 1080p video; put together simply with iMovie. Mixing of audio, and editing of video was done by me (the goofy, slightly creepy curly haired non-Binary Fèy).

Next up on my list is St. Clarity, by the Paper Kites – requested by my partner. I might ask my good friend Javon Love to sing with me!

If you prefer mastered-quality – I do recommend the Dolby quick mastered Soundcloud Version! Listen, watch, indulge! Send me a request!

Rain Dance

i feel a landscape in my chest

i feel your breath deep into my heart

i see your hair a soft silky nest

we’ll have to end before we start

you touch my legs: be it, for the best

we lean back just to rest

feast your lips upon the decay

for i’ll know not what to say

we’ll have to end before we start

the future is a heavy price to pay

asphalt beaten

and morning dew

troubles sweetened

bring the truest blooms

so let’s water each other like plants

use the softest soil you have

the rain is all

so strike my heart with lightning

to be danced by you

that is my wish

taking a chance for you

orchids, organs, flying fish

let’s race up the mountain

see who’ll touch sky first

let’s race back down

hear us, quench our thirst

there will come soft change

a history of pain

close your wounds

grow around it

An Offering For April – poeticle I

Track available for purchase via raven&moth on bandcamp

Inspired by Gertrude Stein‘s stream of consciousness style of writing, each morning for 12 days i awoke & marched to the bathroom to write a haiku. i attempted to reign in on meter, time signature, & opening up interpretation even further with video. In doing so i hoped to harness some fleeting humanity out of the spirit i have been ignoring for the sake of pressing onward into what feels like a long pause before the plunge.

It is not that i am not content.. but rather, i have experienced all of what has been offered to me. So i sought to experience more. This is my Offering To April; my worries, my ecstacies, & trappings of the mundane. For them, i hope to receive freedom, fruition, & relief.

This poeticle will be further analyzed on my academic page, recently created.
